Celebrating Harmony at HRPS

Students celebrating Harmony Day.

Harmony Day is always a special event at Hilltop Road Public School, as we pride ourselves on the diversity and harmony within our community. This year was no different, with a variety of activities and celbrations throughout this week.

Classes decorated and displayed 'harmony hands' to create a harmony wave throughout the school. Each individual student designed their harmony hand with a special message, a representation of their culture or an expression of themselves for our community.

On Harmony Day, Tuesday March 21, we all wore orange or cultural dress to celebrate everything that makes our school so special. At lunchtime, groups of students showcased their culture on the playground, with Arabic drumming, Turkish dancing and a variety of other fun and engaging activities.

On Thursday March 23, we held our annual Trish Hata Memorial Basketball Competition. The competition began in 2018, to honour the memory of one of our very valued Hilltop Road mothers and community members. Members of Trish Hata's family and community, staff and students from the school are put into teams for a knock-out competition. We also enjoyed performances from our Pacific Islander students and the Greystanes High School Haka group. The basketball competition is always a great way for the whole school to come together on Harmony Week, as we cheer on the teams and enjoy the action.

Thank you to our staff, students and community for making Hilltop Road Public School a place of harmony, on harmony day and every day.
