Year 4 Zoo Snooze

On Wednesday October 17th, Year 4 went on a overnight camp at Taronga Zoo called the Zoo Snooze. Mrs Brown, Miss Shabaz, Mr Balafas and Mrs Maroun came with us and we had a fun couple of days.

When we got there they packed our bags into a van to be delivered to where we would be sleeping. Then they showed us around the zoo and some of the animals were running around. We saw koalas, giraffes, elephants and Sumatran tigers. The new Sumatran tiger enclosure was extraordinary! First we had to go in a simulated airplane which "flew" to Indonesia. When we got out there was a pretend Indonesian town with shops. Then we went over a bridge to get to a big round glass enclosure with two tigers. We went in and saw the mum and the son tiger. Some of us went in the jeep which is in the enclosure and got to see the tigers up close. They were massive and they weren't even fully grown.

At night, they showed us behind the scenes of all the animals and then we had dinner. There was an all you can eat buffet and it was delicious. We also had ice cream for dessert. We slept in tents that thankfully kept most of the rain out. While we were sleeping we could hear a peacock squawking and the seals barking.

The next day they took us to breakfast and there was amazing food for us again. After breakfast we had a walk around the zoo and then we went behind the scenes of the bird show. We saw two really cute new baby owls.

After the bird show we went to the seal show. The seals were so amazing. One of the trainers of the seals picked one of us to throw the fish in the air and the seals would jump up and catch them. We got so wet when the seals splashed back into the water.

After that we had lunch and headed back to school. The Zoo Snooze was unforgettable because it was like nothing we have seen or done before. Thank you to the teachers for an amazing two days.
