Learning frontiers

Learning Frontiers is a collaborative initiative created to transform teaching and learning so that every student succeeds in an education worth having. It brings together students, families and carers, other public services, community groups and industry to centre efforts on young people, bringing education to life in a relevant and empowering way.

About the project

Hilltop Road Public School is delighted to have been selected by the Australian Institute of Teachers and School Leaders (AITSL) to be a design hub for the exciting and ground-breaking learning frontiers project. As a school, we will collaborate on designing, prototyping and rolling out powerful professional practices aimed at enhancing deeper learning and heightening student engagement. Engagement in school and learning has been recognised globally as one of the greatest challenges on the educational landscape. Significant global attention has been drawn from other national school systems (Sweden, Brazil, Japan and South Korea to name a few), educational thought-leaders and think-tanks.

The Learning Frontiers project will see Hilltop Road Public School lead and collaborate with a cluster of Sydney schools and represent the state on a national and international platform. Our already innovative and cutting-edge practices will be celebrated and shared on these platforms to support a broad influence on education for all young Australians.

This project sees us working closely with AITSL and the Innovation Unit (UK), most notably David Price (OBE) and Valerie Hannon, two global leaders in the field of learning innovation and education system transformation.
