Bell times

Our school day is structured around a clear timetable. We have set times for learning sessions, activities and lunch. Understanding the bell times helps students get the most out of each part of the day.

Need help with attendance?

Hilltop Road Public School acknowledges, values, and supports positive attendance. The school, in partnership with parents and carers is responsible for promoting the regular attendance of students as we believe that this will lead to students achieving their full potential.

These procedures have been developed from the Student Attendance in Government School-Procedures. This provides schools and the community with information on the entitlements, requirements and procedures for the enrolment and regular attendance of students in government schools.

Information for Extended leave

Parents are required to complete the application for extended leave, which is available from the school office and website. This form must be submitted to the school at the front office or via email 1 month prior to travel for Principal consideration.

The Department of Education recommends travel during school holidays.  If travel during term time is necessary and over 14 days, a parent must apply to the school principal for extended leave and absences will be recorded on the roll. Travel is considered domestic or international travel for the purpose of a family holiday, family/religious business, bereavement, or other reasons, which should be specified in the application. Please feel free to add extra information to your application if deemed useful.

For less than 14 days a parent should write a letter to the school informing the school of travel dates and purpose for intended travel.

If the Principal considers that the travel is appropriate during the school term, the absence will then be recorded as “L” – Leave. If the Application is not accepted the absence will be recorded as “A” – Unjustified. The absence will then be recorded on your child’s report. Please note that this does not stop you from travelling with your child but will be recorded on your child’s attendance history. Parent will be informed in writing of the Principal’s decision.
